Virtual Tours
Extended Reality (XR) Virtual Tours
We use leading virtual tour software to transform physical spaces into immersive XR experiences that drive engagement, understanding, and measurable results. Our virtual tours enable audiences to explore and take action—whether booking, buying, learning, or remembering. They are designed to increase engagement, extend reach, and showcase locations at their very best, including property, venues, exhibitions, heritage sites, sport sites and nature reserves.
Our workflow follows a “Shoot & Edit” approach specifically planned for virtual tours. The capture process mirrors a standard shoot and edit, with the resulting outputs forming the content of the virtual tour.
Shoot & Edit (Part 1)
Estimated duration: circa 1 week
What You Get
Initial consultation call
This call establishes clear communication around your project. Our aim is to gather as much information as possible and agree on a clear picture of your desired outcomes. Consultations can take place via telephone or video call, with additional meetings arranged as needed. We encourage ongoing communication throughout the project and welcome questions or ideas at any stage, as shared understanding directly supports project success and output quality.
Health and safety risk assessment
In some cases this may be completed as a desk‑based exercise. More commonly, an on‑site assessment is required to determine safe and effective shooting methods. This may involve a pre‑shoot visit and/or dynamic risk assessment and mitigation on the day of filming.
One‑day visit and shoot
Before capture begins, we establish a clear plan covering safety, what will be filmed, and why. While some elements may be captured spontaneously, we work from a defined shot plan informed by prior communication and risk assessment. If you or your talent will be speaking or performing on camera, preparation will be required.
Circa 3 days post‑production: first pass edit
After shooting, footage is transferred to our editing suite, which can be time‑consuming due to large file sizes. 360° equirectangular footage may require stitching, masking, reframing, or other manual processing. 3D scans or models may need cleaning in 3D software before rendering. All material is then reviewed to identify and extract the strongest content through a detailed refinement process.
Content review meeting (conference call)
We review the selected footage with you, allowing you to help choose elements and shots that will form the final edit.
Circa 2 days post‑production: compositing and finalising
At this stage, we assemble the final outputs using agreed structures, style templates, captions, branding, and finishing detail. Exhibit Scotland maintains a dedicated composer network for music. Outputs can be supplied without music if you prefer to add your own. Bespoke audio can be commissioned separately, providing a unique and distinctive soundtrack.
Second content review meeting (conference call)
Once second‑pass editing is complete, we review the content together to confirm satisfaction before embedding it into the virtual tour.
Building the Virtual Tour (Part 2)
Estimated duration: circa 1 week
The virtual tour is constructed by linking 360° panoramas with hotspots and interactive game mechanics to create an engaging learning or showcase experience. Content is embedded and interactive features such as timers and scoring systems are activated, enabling user interaction and measurable improvement.
Completed virtual tours undergo user testing to ensure intuitive operation and to identify and resolve any bugs.
Publishing
Virtual tours can be published for a range of use cases, including web‑based VR for websites, immersive experiences for VR headsets, and integration with Google platforms.
